Tuesday 1/20

Parents: please ask your student about paper(s) that came home today from choir classes. Show Choir students have three forms to share. Also Show Choir students will receive a field trip form tomorrow for our upcoming Junior School good grades party performance. Due to a change in the high school's field trip policy, this form MUST be returned ASAP. If we do not have enough students with the proper permission(s) to participate by this Friday then the performance will have to be cancelled.

MLK Week

No School on Monday.
The Music Boosters begin our Fudge Sale this week- all students in grades 6-12 and participate in any district music class are invited to help (flyer will be given to students on Tuesday).
This week Show Choir will receive some very important Double H Showcase information on Tuesday.  We have a voluntary review session on Wednesday (choreography- AC music room 3-4pm) and a VERY special vocal clinic with Mr. Sterling Finkbine on Friday 3-4:30 on stage.  If you are committed to play at NKU's honor band or are in drama and find out Thursday that you have musical rehearsal on Friday then you are excused from the vocal clinic- this is the only day we could have Mr. Finkbine in so we went ahead and booked it because he is amazing!
Junior High Show Choir rehearsal must be moved to Thursday (2:45- 5pm) due to the HS vocal clinic on Friday.
All High School students who wish to prepare a Singing Valentine should be ready to show it to Mrs. Purdy by Friday of this week.  All Solo & Ensemble students: you have just under two weeks until the competition.  Good luck everyone!

Show Week continues

Show Choir SHOW WEEK continues.  Tomorrow is all about music (dynamics, ballad, diction & coordination with the band). Friday we will stop to fix formations as we run the show (no costumes).  Then Saturday morning at {ATTENTION THIS IS A CHANGE} 7:00am we will run the show with the band/set (working choreography, costume changes & consonants) before we pack the wardrobes and take off for Beavercreek.

Tuesday 1/13/15

Good job this morning with the costume change Show Choir- I thought it went very smoothly.  We need to continue to enhance our facial expressions and diction so that they carry to the back of the auditorium during the entire performance.  We must tighten the morning schedule in order to complete our goals before the bell rings.  A formation check is only possible with full attendance.
Here is Tomorrow's schedule:
6:45 setup wardrobes and 1st costume
6:50 warmup
6:55 ballad & dynamics (+diction review)
7:05 full show with choreo, vocals, costume changes, combo & set
7:22 to street clothes
7:30 notes/dismiss at bell
There is also a voluntary choreography review tomorrow after school.  This may be the last time you have the dance captains to yourselves to ask questions, run tough sections and fix problem areas before we perform at Beavercreek this Saturday.

Beavercreek prep week

Show Choir: great preview show last night in Edgewood! This season is off to a wonderful start. Monday please bring all of you costume(s) and music. We will be attacking several of the judge's musical suggestions and cleaning formation & spacing issues first. Tuesday- Friday we will add costume changes and the set as we continue to work with our combo, clean choreography, add additional dynamic interest as well as train ourselves to deal with the timing rules of competition. It will be a big week as we prep for Beavercreek on Saturday. Punctuality, preparedness and patience are all essential elements as we work toward our common goal of a spectacular season together!
