Elem. tour & Late-Winter Concert

Tomorrow is the Show Choir Elementary Tour. Most of us will be meeting at 7am and leaving by 7:30am. Pack a lunch and wear your show shirt with jeans & tennis shoes. We will return to school by 3:30pm and you are all welcome to watch the Moorhead Jazzband perform once we return in the theater.

HHe has a rehearsal from 9am-4:30pm on Saturday too.

All choirs have a concert on Tuesday, March 1st (that is next Tuesday). I hope everyone has memorized their music- our rehearsals were stellar today & we want our concert to be just as good. This is a formal concert with your formal attire. Call time is 6:40pm in the back hallway & AC gym (the junior high will be in the AC music room). There are over 300 singers participating in this concert and we will have a short intermission.

Double H Thanks

Harrison Harmonics Show Choir members, alumni, parents & boosters:  you all are AMAZING!  Yesterday at Double H, I didn’t run into any individual signed up in our name who wasn’t prepared to step up, chip in and help us pull off this huge event.  Our students were friendly, personable, polite and highly capable!  They also found time to put on a great performance! The overwhelming sentiment from visiting directors and co-hosting Hamilton adults was how NICE and HELPFUL our kids were.  Hearing these words repeated by so many adults throughout the day is no accident.  Our students strive to earn this reputation.  But their results are both a product of their own individual hard work and the example set by every parent & booster adult working long hours to pitch-in and make our showcase special.  Thank you all!  You are indeed incredibly AMAZING!!!!

HH evolution to Loveland Feb. 13th

HHe kids- tomorrow we head to Loveland. Thanks to Mya, Jake, Deborah, Arielle, Simon, Jake's mom, Mya's mom, Mr. Egan & Chris Milesky, we have sets for the show. See every evolution member, alternate & crew member on stage tomorrow at 7:30am. Your first outfit & anything that you need for homeroom preparations needs to be in your garment bag/duffle bag & ride the bus with you. Your second 'red' outfit needs to be in the wardrobes (on the correct side). We only have 30 minutes to load everything (instruments, wardrobes & sets) onto the truck or we will be cutting into the girls' homeroom prep time. We hit the stage at 11:30am. See you there!!

Last Practice before Loveland

Variety Show audition sign-up are outside the music room. Please sign up your act & prepare for your audition.
HHe rehearsal this Saturday from 10-5pm. I have had at least four people say that they can't be there due to other obligations- please let me know if you cannot attend because if we don't have a significant number of people who are able to attend then there is no reason to have a rehearsal & we should cancel. This is the last "HHe members only" rehearsal before we compete at Loveland on the 13th.

Edgewood tomorrow

Show Choir- we have our annual workshop at Edgewood on Saturday the 9th.  Report to our HS Music room by 7:15 am Saturday morning with everything that you need for the day (workshop) and evening (performance).  The bus leaves at 7:30am.  There are no costume changes or sets for this show (we will work on that starting next week).  You should have your RED outfits for this performance.  Remember to wear your show shirt for the daytime workshops.
The workshop and performance is at Edgewood Middle School (the old HS).  The performance(s) start at 7pm but they only have @ 400 seats in their auditorium so if your parents, friends or relatives are coming make sure they arrive closer to 6:30 than 7. The tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for student/seniors.
We will change back into street clothes and leave by (hopefully) 9:30pm.  If your parents are picking you up- I need to see you both together before you leave.  If you are coming with us, we plan to stop at Frisch's on our way home to Harrison.  Please be prepared to text/call or contact your ride once we leave Frisch's so that you will be picked up once we arrive back at Harrison (@11 if we can stay on time- but there is no guarantee so be sure to have a phone or a show choir friend with a phone handy).

Solo & Ensemble Contest

The OMEA Solo & Ensemble contest is for those interested in singing traditional or classical style songs for a certified OMEA judge.  The contest is Saturday, January 23rd at Elder HS and the registration is next week.  The competition is open to any high school singer who is interested in preparing a Solo or group of singers (SSA, TTBB or SATB) interested in an Ensemble.  Please contact Mrs. Purdy for more details and/or to sign-up for this contest.  The music can be challenging but the growth potential for those that participate is great.

December Choir Flyer sent home today

Did you remember to take your Choir Flyer home with all of the dates and times for our December performances?
It is also time to start thinking about OMEA Solo & Ensemble contest if you interested. This contest is for serious musicians who like to tackle serious music. If you have a private voice teacher or piano instructor, ask this week about your best performance options. If you do not have a private instructor we will discuss the event and what vocal selections might be best for you during class on December 10th.

Showcase Southwest 2.0

Harrison Voices- Great concert tonight everyone! You did a really nice job adapting to the space and the packed audience.
Thanks to all of the students who stayed to help tear down the platform stage and return all of the chairs- can you believe that we had 400 chairs in that space and still packed the space to overflowing?! I really appreciate everyone who returned chairs to the JS & HS music rooms so we could all get home before 10 tonight.
Special thanks to Mr. Egan for providing sound for our soloists/speakers & to Mrs. Withrow for making it easy to coordinate a concert together.
